Last Week’s Meeting:

Guest Speaker last week was Marcia Tesoriaero.  Marcia lives in Healesville and is the manager of Trydell Museum at Guys Hill.

We were fortunate to visit the museum recently and experience the magnificent collection of motor vehicles and other unique memorabilia.

Marcia gave a brief talk about the museum, its owners, how it started and where it is headed.  She then talked about “Cambodia Children’s Fund”, a project in Cambodia that her and the museum owners have been supporting for several years.

The fund was instigated by Australian movie director Scott Neeson after a visit to Cambodia in 2005. After seeing 2500 children living on a garbage dump in Phnom Penh he resigned from a 26 year movie career and moved to Cambodia where he covered all of the initial cost to establish the fund.  He is now the organisation’s full time Executive Director. Terry and Jan the owners of Trydell Museum have supported the fund for 10 years with part of the museum entry fees going directly to the fund. Marcia herself got involved and has travelled to Cambodia as a volunteer. The fund supports poverty stricken children to aid their education, health, develop leadership and keep families together.

Marcia also spoke briefly about two other organisations they support.  One that enhances the children in hill tribes in Northern Thailand and another called “Free To Shine‘’ that saves and protects children from sex trafficking which is a very big problem in the poorer Asian countries.
