Presidents Ponderings:

Hi All,

What another great meeting we  had last Tuesday. It’s always inspiring listening to our own members and their stories. Thank you last week to Josie Wilson (or should I say Josepina?) for sharing her story and bringing along her dad’s original suitcase he carried to Australia all those years ago. Josie also admitted to being a bit of a party girl with the girls and then she met Jim at the “Powerhouse” (Which seemed quite a well-known venue for many of our members) and they have now been married for over 41years. Josie also shared her passion for cooking which led her to eventually taking over Cafe127 in Pakenham which she ran as a family business for over 6 years. Her interests are dancing (Including the proud winner of a Gold Medal which she showcased on the night), crocheting, sewing, cruising and now caravanning. Thanks again Josie for sharing your story with your fellow Rotarians.

Ken also presented earlier in the week to MecwaCare which was very successful. In a casual environment there were about 10 present, staff an clients. There was a lot of interest with some enquiries for potential membership opportunities. As I mentioned during our meeting, I will distribute the presentation Ken used so that everyone can use it to share the Rotary story when talking to friends. Family & acquaintances. Great work Ken!

Lyn & Greg provided an update on our Global grant for the Happy schools Program in conjunction with the Rotary club of Pune in India. This is a great program that will make a huge difference in the lives of a number of people. Keep up the great work.

We have a busy period coming up with quite a number of BBQ opportunities, potential stall to showcase our club at Market place, Le Pines etc. More to come at our next meeting.

Don’t forget the Membership forum at Nossal High School on the 13th October & get your registrations in for District Conference 15-17 February 2019

Unfortunately once again the Jokers went missing (so much so that Sam couldn’t find it). Once normality was restored, our sergeant Graeme was this week’s non-winner, everyone again was so disappointed for him.! It does mean that the jackpot is rising again to over $1500 approx. Good luck next week, you gotta be in it to win it!

Well done to everyone for a very strong start to this Rotary Year.
