Presidents Ponderings:

What another great night at the Pakenham Rotary Club. We had a number of guests join us as we start of the new Rotary Year. Service committees are starting their meetings in preparation for another busy year. Lyn handed out more of the new uniforms (Magenta not pink!) & Ken regaled us with the history behind the president elects medallion and the story of Charles Hicks, thanks Ken. The elusive Joker is still “wild” and Sam is doing a wonderful job in filling in for sergeant Graeme. Thanks Sam and get well soon Mr Begg!

Our guest speaker Jeff Steele presented a fascinating story from his new book “From Dunkirk to D-Day”. A story that involved the father of John Antonie’s partner Linda, Ian Fleming, Alan Turing, Adolf Hitler, spies, bombings, espionage and COD!

Greg Peck has kindly volunteered to be the Clubs “On to Conference” lead. This year is a multi-district conference brought to you by districts 9790, 9800, 9810 and 9820 and being Melbourne based should be an exciting event with many extra elements. There are approx. 236 clubs, & over 6500 rotarians across the 4 districts so it will definitely be an event not to be missed.

Coming up in the next few weeks for our club we have:
  1. Special guest speaker - Marcia Tesoriero – Children in Cambodia this Tuesday night
  2. Fabulous Murder Mystery night on the 31st
  3. PB Ronald Dinner on the 7th August
  4. Big Boys BBQ Lunch on the 17th
  5. DG Janne Spiers visit on the 21st August

Have a great week everyone!
