Vic Falls Equipment wish List
Sizinda School
Sizinda Secondary School is a rural school 40 kms from Victoria Falls which has approximately 400 students.
There are at present 65 students who wish to wish to learn sewing as a practical subject which may lead to a career post school providing them with future income security.
The school wishes to have a well equipped sewing room to be able to have sewing classes. It is very difficult to teach sewing without sewing machines and other requirements.
The school has provided a ‘wish’ list, some of which will be provided by DIK, West Footscray. This will be enough to give students practical experience and the skills to have a future income.
Items supplied will be delivered by members of the Rotary Club of Victoria Falls.
Leona Clinic
Leona Clinic in the village of Vulindlela is approximately 30 kms from Victoria Falls.
A complete clinic has been constructed but is non functional as there is no equipment, medical or otherwise, there. Staff have been allocated by the Government but the nurses are currently attached to other clinics as the clinic is not furnished.
This clinic will service approximately 1000 villagers. It will have a particular emphasis on Maternal and Child health leading to much improved neo-natal outcomes thus reducing mortality rates
Much of the equipment and supplies will be provided by DIK, West Footscray.
Items supplied will be delivered by the members of the Rotary Club of Victoria Falls.

Chamabondo Primary School
Chamabondo School is a large community school that caters for approximately 1600 students aged from 4 to 13 in Mkhosana Township, Victoria Falls.  The Government provides teaching staff and monitoring programmes only.
The community is responsible for school development and operating programmes. Assistance from outside the school community is needed to assist the school to realise envisaged development projects.
The school particularly wishes to develop its information technology teaching as well as have its old worn out classroom furniture replaced.
Some of the requirements will be provided by DIK, West Footscray.
Items supplied will be delivered by members of the Rotary Club of Victoria Falls.

Victoria Falls Hospital
Victoria Falls Hospital is the main hospital in Victoria Falls, there are two smaller hospitals in Victoria Falls. A small hospital has been built nearby in Hwange, but has been deemed unfit for purpose as the concrete walls and floor have major cracks developing. The hospital also runs some rural clinics.
The hospital’s needs for modern equipment and basic equipment and consumables are displayed clearly by the items on their long “wish list’.  Items range from Diathermy machines to hospital beds, Ultrasound machines to surgical scissors, maternal delivery beds to plaster of paris and on and  on.

I visited the hospital 10 years ago and was shocked by the lack of up to date equipment. It appears that nothing has changed in the interim.

Items sent to the Hospital will be supplied by DIK, West Footscray and will be delivered by members of the Rotary Club of Victoria Falls.
